Kyle's 5th Birthday!

Kyle turned 5!
That is just crazy yet totally about time too!
He is such a fun boy and was so thrilled it was his birthday!  It even landed on a preschool day...so fun for him to get to bring cupcakes to school!  He was in heaven!
Kyle's birthday came on one of the nights of our school dance performances.
So after the performance Grandma and Grandpa came back to our house for cupcakes and presents.

He was super excited!
Dad got Sean's old bike fixed {It had been out of commission for 2 years!}
He was super excited this cool bike was now ALL HIS!

So we headed out front to test it out!

Grandpa gave the boys "Rocket booster" rides!

This two year old is a scooter maniac...and scares us all...even up and down the slope curbs...
somehow he manages to stay upright!
Racing Ryan...in socks no less. argh.
Racing...bike, scooter and running.
They had a blast riding out front in the dark and no one got hurt!  Success again!  Though Grandma had a hard time watching Cade ride around so fast and crazy!  Can you see the joy in his face!?!
And of course, Kyle needed his own party since Sean got one and he's now a big boy!
Kyle's first official party!
Astronaut style.
Here I had the kids assembling nuts and bolts with big gloves on...like astronauts working on a shuttle in space with their space suits on!
TRANQUILIZE THE ALIENS!
Very successful game:)

Earth Bowling
Also successful...doesn't that ball sorta look like Earth?
ROCKET LAUNCHING!
Amazingly successful!  Mint mentos in Diet Rootbeers.
2 mentos in 20 oz gave about a two feet squirt.
BUT put 3 mentos into a 2 Liter Diet Soda - we used Diet A&W Rootbeer I think...launches crazy high!

And Sean's white shirt has never been the same.
Everyone had fun watching this event!
Kyle has been loving Astronauts...talking about Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldren all the time.
We lucked out and our friend Jen had this cake pan!
What an adorable cake for an adorable boy!
Fun to celebrate this 5 year old boy of ours!  He is so passionate about whatever he is doing.  He loves to do school work and loves to show us what he has learned. Loves to please and do "cool" things like his brothers.  At school he often plays with the girls...just because he seems to like them...not because they are girls, just because they are fun to play with.  Most of the time he truly is the kindest boy and is so sad when others do something mean spirited - though he has been known to lash out when he is frustrated too..See #9
He loves a good mom or dad cuddle and is the son who gets the most sad when mom and dad leave.  When either of us leave - even on a daily basis as dad leaves for work...he says goodbye about 50 times...which includes multiple hugs or kisses and multiple opening the door to say goodbye again...sometimes there are tears and he'll say, "But I really like you!"  He has loved to color...closely associated with loving school work.  Just recently he hasn't colored as much but most of his 3rd and 4th years he colored so cute.  He used a variety of colors and colored hard so that the color came out vibrant on the paper.  We love his coloring!  LOVE YOU KYLE!

Kyle's 4th Birthday!

My little Kyle turned 4!
He's always so excited about his birthday because it's just a few weeks after Sean's...
so he's excited about his cake and presents and party!

A Giants Panda Pillow Pet.  Perfect for my son who LOVES soft things!
Can't you just tell that he feels special in this picture?  His look says, "It's my birthday.  I'm special today.  I'm getting bigger like my brothers...and I'm happy about that."

Kyle designed this cake all by himself!  After having chocolate covered strawberries at preschool one day, he'd been craving them...so he asked for Chocolate cake with strawberries and Chocolate covered strawberries.  So that's what he got!  I love making the fun cakes for my boys...but really loved making this one because it tasted so good!  He pretty much asked for this last year too...he loves chocolate frosting...and that's usually what he eats from cake.  But this night he was so excited about his presents, I don't think he even ate one bite!
Then the next night we took a few of his friends to Chuck e Cheese's for an hour of play and cupcakes!

Kyle is a fun and funny kid!  He loves to be silly and make people laugh.  He says some really funny things...just last night he was playing with a friend at Sean's ballgame.  They raced back from the snack shack...and when Kyle got back to his friends dad...he said, "I won!  I can't believe I won!  He's older than me...and taller than me! And look - he has bigger feet than me and I still won!"  He is so aware of what's going on with the big brothers and loves to be like them.  He also loves Cade hugs.  He has been coloring, writing and drawing so great.  All on his own, he has started to write letters and his name!  He loves going to preschool with his friends.  He has quite the imagination!  Just the other day he was coloring/drawing - something he loves to do. This is his creation:
The top drawing is a motorcyle from a learn to draw book...I drew it, he colored it - but he drew the helmet. Guess what the lower drawing is?  You guessed it...
4 friends riding a roller coaster!
All the lines drawn over in the same place are the times they rode the coaster.  The bumps are the loop d loops.  His comments were: "Weeeeee!" and "They are having so much fun!"  "I wish I could go on that  ride for real life!"

I also interviewed him:

Obstacle Course Birthday

Sean asked for an Obstacle Course Birthday Party!
What a fun idea for his Survivor loving parents!
We had fun creating a great challenge/obstacle course for the kids.

First...shoot a basketball into the hoop.
Then fill a cup with water and walk it over and dump it..while plugging the hole in the bottom!
Third...throw a football into a bucket.
Fourth...jump over a hurdle.
Fifth..Run high knees through the soccer training ladder.
Sixth crawl through a tunnel.
Seventh...kick a football through the uprights.
Eighth...run, weaving through the cones.
Ninth...kick a soccer ball into a goal.
Tenth...crawl through another tunnel.
Eleventh...push the big ball to the next cone.
Twelfth...complete a train puzzle. {the longest obstacle}
Phew!
Most kids completed in about 2 minutes!
Here are some pictures in order of obstacles...

Kyle was super funny!  By the time it was his turn...he was too impatient for us to finish the boy in front of him...so he started all by himself...and did the course about four times...finally I captured him on the last time!  But still never got to time him...but he changed the obstacles to fit his abilities!
So for the hurdle, he went under - his idea!

Instead of kicking the ball, Kyle picked it up and threw it through the uprights.

Sean blowing his candles out...yay for seven!
Party favors.

The kids also played a game of Kickball too after the obstacles.  It turned out to be a great party for 7 year olds!  We brought pulled pork BBQ Sandwiches, chips and Capri Suns for dinner plus cake of course.
The dinner was perfect after they ran around and were starving!  Everyone was happy so it was a success!
