So we decided to head to San Fran for one last hurrah before school started.
What a beautiful day! You can see the Golden Gate Bridge and Coit Tower in this picture.
So clear and blue! Nice!
It was free day at the Academy of Sciences so we planned to check out the newly opened museum!
HOWEVER, so did everyone else. The line was at least a half mile long and parking was a frightening situation! My rationale to go on the free day was that we weren't interested in going to the movies that you'd have to purchase a ticket for and all the DC museums are free, they are crowded but since you walk right in because it's free there aren't any lines...So SF needs to talk to DC to figure out how to run their museum, because we ditched that plan all together and headed to ride the Cable Car and get lunch by the piers.
After lunch we headed to see the Sea Lions!
but due to it being our first school night of the year, we had no time to head to Ghiradelli Square to check out Kara's Cupcakes! Bummer. But we got the best seats on the Cable Car for the ride back to Union Square!
The boys were all fascinated by the working and movement of the levers between the two benches that drive the Cable Car...so they were turned around as much to see the levers as they were watching out the window!
Until we got to some down hills! Then they were excited to go WEEEeeeeee!
It was a great day despite our several changes in plans. Fun to be together and explore a little bit of the city!

I'm still bummed that we didn't get to squeeze in S.F. when we were visiting this summer - truly one of my favorites. Looks like you had a great last hurrah in spite of no museum. Cable cars and little boys - always a good mix!
The boys are really growing up now. You can see it in their faces every month that goes by. Wow. Time will fly. Baptism, priesthood, missions, marriage. RIGHT around the corner. Just like that. Zoom.
Love it. Love you all.
Nothing better than lunch at the pier plus a trip on the cable cars. I'm sad about the cupcake place though. Definately worth a trip back-museum and then cupcakes-perfect!
It all sounds delightful! I can hear the sea lions, and the cable cars, and the birds, and the street noise on the pier. Such an incredibly beautiful day!!!! And yes they do look like they are growing up... maybe it is the new hair cut, but they look a year older than when they were just here.
Yeah bummer about Kara's. My mom and I were talking about how we will have to try them out. But that looks like a perfect day in the city and a great way to end your summer!
