Argggh Mateys!

Even though I just barely posted our Preschool's Krispy Kreme fieldtrip, I had to add more! On Wednesday when I picked Ryan up from Preschool, this is what he looked like:
The letter of the day was X. According to Ryan, they went on a Treasure Hunt as pirates. There was a treasure map leading them to a room where their treasure was under a big X for X marks the spot! If you can't tell, he LOVED being a pirate! Each week they decorate a block letter and he puts around the top of his room. They put bones on a black X this week making an X ray. He had a great day at preschool!

Donuts and Puke

We were able to go to Krispy Kreeme with our preschool group for a fieldtrip last week. We had been to one a few years ago and it was great, so we were excited. The kids had been sick but had at least one day of feeling better before the fieldtrip. So off we went. Tuesday morning we were waiting for more of our Preschool friends to get to the donut shop before beginning the tour. Out of nowhere, Sean pukes...and pukes...and pukes! I don't know where it all came from! He started while standing on a bench of a booth, as it pooled at his feet and began dripping down to floor, I grabbed him to hold him over the garbage to continue his puking. He puked on the way to the garbage and still more in the garbage. We made a HUGE mess! Ryan had been looking forward to the donuts that they got to decorate, so we cleaned up and I held Sean to keep him separate from the other kids. If you know Sean, that's really mean to do to him. He loves to be with the big kids. So he was really sad, but did pretty good at letting me keep him quarantined. Yes, I did let him have a donut, and no, thank goodness, he didn't puke it up! So now rewind 4 days and this is what our day was like: rounds of pukes and runny poos. One when he was napping on his belly. He cried so I went to get him and then I saw it, the evidence of more issues on his blankets, so I started taking his clothes off, and the evidence was on his belly up to his chin! While disgusting, I couldn't help but laugh. Poor kid had three baths that day.

President's Weekend in Tahoe

We had a great time in Tahoe with Grandma, Grandpa, Chris, Lindsay and Jake! Way to go Chris for bringing Jake! It was a great idea. Jake is a great role model for Ryan as he was super cousin to Sean. Jake was a great helper and loved to cuddle with Sean, and vice versa! Snowboarding was the highlight as Jake really learned how to ride and Ryan got to stand in Jake's board and give it a try.

Chris took the videos of Jake as they were coming down the mountain. I hope it'll work to upload them into here...stay tuned.

Ryan and Sean LOVED riding between Scott's feet on his board on a small hill. Scott took Ryan and Jake on the Snowboogie for a triple. They thought it was "totally wicked!" I built a snowman for Ryan and Sean all by myself and they weren't impressed as it wasn't very tall - only a little taller than Sean. So Ryan pushed it over and I have no proof of my ice snowman...there wasn't great snow to build with - mostly icy and melting but we tried.

San Francisco

Scott and I got to enjoy a weekend without kids in San Francisco! It was great to explore the city together. We loved it. We must admit though that after a few later than usual nights and nonstop touring, we were pooped out!

The first day we set out to explore Golden Gate Park. We found the Japanese Tea Gardens and the area around the de Young Museum to be beautiful! One piece of interesting trivia we found: Did you know there are bison in Golden Gate Park? Wierd. We set out to find Baker Beach and found China Beach instead. It was gorgeous! There were rocky sea cliffs to climb and watch the ocean and Bridge. We climbed out as far as we could and then watched the sun come out to highlight the bridge for us! Then we found Lincoln Park and the Legions of Honor Museum. It was really great. We got there so late, only 20 minutes before closing, so they let us in free and we had a running tour of the museum. We managed to see it all (they weren't pushing us out right at 5) and were so glad since the last room had the jackpot artwork.

The other cool thing was they were having an

organ concert in the main hall and so as we were running through the museum, there was loud organ (Phantom like) music booming through the corridors. It was a nice touch.

After dinner we hiked 6 blocks (not far, but

I was in heels and it was straight up one of SFs

steep hills) to the Top of the Mark. Top of the Mark is a jazz

club at the top of the Mark Hopkins Hotel which

is situated on a pretty high spot in San Francisco.

So we got to listen to Jazz, dance and see 360

views of the City. It was really great and we'll

definitely go there again someday!

The next day we took the Cable Car to the Wharf and had our favorite Clam Chowder in a Sourdough Bread Bowl! Later we finally got to walk across the Golden Gate Bridge! I had really wanted to do that, and it was pretty cool. On our way back to the SF side of the bridge I looked down and noticed ocean through a hole in the sidewalk! I had assumed that the road was under the sidewalk too. It's not! It is really high and after that, I was happy to be on solid ground!

Freezing Utah

We survived our quick trip to Utah, having fun everywhere we went! We got to see Uncle Chris and Aunt Lindsay, the Butterworths and the Allens! After driving hours and hours towards Utah, Ryan was done being in the car and kept saying he wanted to go the other way - meaning towards home. But then every place we went, he asked to stay there for a long time. He got to play in the snow with dad even though it was under 0 degrees! It was so bitter cold outside, Sean didn't want anything to do with it. Scott and Ryan tried to make a snowman and snowballs but couldn't because the cold was so cold the snow wouldn't stick together! Hopefully, Ryan doesn't have a memory that his dad doesn't know how to make a snowball!

Ryan and Sean loved playing with Hana Butterworth. It was great to catch up with Sam and Andrew!

We had fun as always with the Allens! Ryan got to play outside in the snow again with Destiny and Hannah. The boys had their first try at a real drum set and loved it!

This last picture is of my silly boys! Ryan loves to pretend to be Santa. To do so, he takes his arms out of his shirt and it hangs around his neck, this is his Santa beard. That day, he found the beannie from when he was 6 months old...and the pumpkin, his santa bag.

So Ryan is Santa - beard, hat and bag included and Sean of course is trying to be Santa too!

Ryan's first day of Primary!

Ryan is so cute! He's wanted a tie for months and months, and we told him when

he went to primary, we'd get him a tie. So he reminded us that we needed to get him a tie, we did, and with the suit jacket Grandma and Grandpa got him, he could hardly wait to put on his "suit" Sunday morning. Then on the way to Church, he said, "but mom and dad, I need Scriptures!" So looks like we'll be getting him some scriptures for Primary too. It cracked us up! How did he know he's supposed to bring Scriptures to Church? He's been in Nursery!
